To Playstation 3 is a special console, from all perspectives. Since 2007, when Europe first saw the PS3, Sony has adopted various policies and has introduced several different models.

The initial heavy design of the console, was met with negativity from many, but everyone appreciated its impressive capabilities. The first model has since been known with the unofficial name "fat", while Sony later released several other, finer models, known as "slim" and "ultra-slim".

Its processing capabilities are, from 2000 to date, stunning, but the notorious complex and obscure architecture cost to Sony, introduced large development costs for games, and held many titles to its competitors.
The console also features a single GPU, named "RSX", capable of delivering advanced graphics that stand admirably even today.
Finally, the ability of the console to play blu-ray movies and games was a unique innovation, where competitors only followed in 2013.

The hardware of the Playstation 3, but also a wide range of top games by both Sony studios and and third parties, have made the Playstation 3 an extremely popular console, which has touched 80 million sales worldwide a number which still grows as the production costs get cheaper.
