Infrared (IR) on your 3DS XL
The 3DS XL, in the context of an inclusive wireless connectivity it provides, integrates an infrared port beyond WiFi. Infrared is a well-known, easily implemented technology, which can be used for simple data transfer between two electronic devices in line of sight, with minimal battery consumption.
This functionality finds many (but not widely known) applications, such as connecting 2 3DS XL devices, so as to exchange data and enjoy two-player gameplay (in games that support it). Still, there is plenty of potential for the use in third party applications, such as remote control via the 3DS XL for a variety of devices.
